Which areas does CrimeCompare cover?
CrimeCompare currently covers England postcodes only.
It does not include Scotland, Wales or Northern Ireland yet.
Where does the crime data come from?
We use street‑level crime data from Police.uk and postcode geography from the ONS Postcode Directory.
How current is the data?
Police.uk releases crime data with a delay of around two months.
CrimeCompare always uses the most recent month published – Most Current Police Data.
What is the risk score?
Risk score is a 0–100 index that gives more weight to serious offences like violence and weapons
than to minor thefts.
What is crime density per km²?
Crime density divides the total number of crimes by the area we analyse around each postcode.
It shows how concentrated crime is, not just how many incidents there were.
Do I need an account to use CrimeCompare?
